JoAnn Pool grew up in South Jersey in Willingboro. It was here that she first found her love for swimming. At the age of 7 she joined the summer swim team and spent the next 10 summers in chlorinated water. JoAnn attended Rutgers University where she graduated with a degree in Speech Pathology and later received her Special Education teaching certification. She is currently a Special Education Teacher in East Amwell, NJ.
JoAnn was first recruited to work at Camp Harmony in 1994 by Jerry Director. She was told that she would be taking over the "pool responsibilities" from Jack Pool (a looong time staff member) upon his retirement. Her years at Camp Harmony have been filled with great memories! She has enjoyed teaching the campers to swim and ready them to become lifeguards themselves with the Red Cross Guard Start program. She is now the Aquatics Director with the responsibility of overseeing the Red Cross program being implemented by her staff of fourteen lifeguards.
Camp Harmony has been a family affair for JoAnn. Both her children have been at Camp Harmony since their births and her husband, Scott, spent over ten years as the Ropes Specialty Head.
